John Fowler (politician)

John Fowler (1755–1840) was a Jeffersonian Republican member of the United States House of Representatives from the state of Kentucky in the United States Congress.

Fowler was born in 1755 in Virginia. He studied in the common schools. He was a captain in the militia during the American Revolutionary War. He was part of the Danville, Kentucky convention of 1787. That same year he was elected to the Virginia House of Delegates. He was also a member of the Virginia Convention that ratified the United States Constitution in 1788.

Fowler began his service in congress in 1797. He was a member of the Fifth, Sixth, Seventh, Eighth, and Ninth United States Congresses.

Fowler died at Lexington, Kentucky on August 22, 1840.
